Get Your Hunt On!

Last year when Easter rolled around Molly was only 4 1/2 months old. She was all smiles and sported a super cute bunny onesie with a mini tutu. Adorable. We got all dressed up, went to church and then to brunch. She sat up was propped up next to her Easter basket and wore some super cute bunny ears. A great first Easter.

This year we had a running, jumping, full of energy toddler for Easter (an early Easter, I am out of town on actual Easter). So that could only mean one thing, an Easter Egg Hunt!

The Dallas Arborteum, one of our favorite spots, was hosting an Easter breakfast and Egg Hunt for members. And they had one scheduled the weekend prior to actual Easter (when I wouldn't be out of town). The stars were aligning.

We got up extra early, it started at 7:45am, got all fancied up in a cute dress and practiced our hunting and gathering strategies at home before we headed out. I could already tell she was a natural.

We fueled up with breakfast and did a few crafts to get in the spirit.

Then it was time. They called us all to the lawn on the Arboretum and we watched as all the bigger kids got ready to attack. I whispered to Molly, "You go get em girl!" And then they were off!

Two at a time! No stopping this girl.

She was a little distracted at first by all of the people but once she got the hang of it there was no stopping her. She would spot an egg she wanted and take off!

It ended up being a dreary day with a very cold wind so we stopped to investigate her loot and then take a few family pics before heading out.

She absolutely loved it and her Dad might even take her to another hunt this weekend. She told me she was dying to go again.

Hope everybody has a wonderful Easter Weekend! And get your hunt on!

An Easter Weekend Recap

We had a lot of activity this past Easter weekend so I thought I would do a full on weekend recap post to share.

Chase's Mom was in town for the holiday weekend so we made it a point to do some fun things around town. The first being a trip to Ikea on Saturday. We went for a few small items (new pots, look at baby stuff, etc.) and ended up buying a new chair and a new TV console. Impulse buying much? But we are happy with our purchases so no buyers remorse...yet.

Molly was a real trooper and sat in her first high chair in the Ikea cafeteria. The food is surprisingly good.

Later on that evening we went to a fun area of Dallas called Bishop Arts District and tried out a new restaurant. We sat on the patio to enjoy the beautiful weather and Molly had a good time watching us eat. Chase, his mom and myself also decided to do tequila shots! We were feeling adventurous.

On Sunday morning we got up, got dressed and ready and headed to church to worship for Easter. It was a great service and started the day off perfect. Molly went to the nursery for the second time and did great...we didn't get paged!

After church we headed out for brunch at one of my favorite local spots, Breadwinners Cafe. The food was delicious and we again sat outside to soak up the sun and nice breeze.

We spent the rest of the afternoon putting together furniture and re-organizing the media center. Felt great to get that done! And then Molly checked out what the Easter Bunny brought her.

What a fabulous weekend! I really hope I can hold on to this one for years to come.

weekend plans

Well another weekend has arrived. They actually seem to be coming pretty quickly these days...that's always nice.

This weekend we have big plans down here in Dallas. It's an all out Easter weekend with family coming to visit. And not only are my parents and little bro coming for the weekend, they are bringing the entire OKC Thunder NBA basketball team with them!!

Weekend Plans:
  1. Clean the house in preparation for company
  2. Hit the gym to make room for weekend calories
  3. Welcome my parents and brother to town for their visit
  4. Yard work- yes I am putting my family to work.  We have some gardening to do.
  5. Thunder vs Mavs basketball game.  Should be a great match-up.  And rumor has it Chase and I got invited to attend VIP style in a suite.
  6. Easter!  We will be celebrating by cooking up a grand feast and gathering the family around the table.
I think that's it.  Can't wait to see the fam and have some fun!
