Baby Reveal Party

On Sunday Chase and I, along with my parents, hosted a baby reveal party to find out if we are having a baby girl or baby boy.

We invited our close friends and family, put together a few DIY decorations, bought some food and beer and had a good ol' time hanging out.

The decor theme was of course boy? or girl? since nobody knew the gender yet.

The plan was to open up either a pair of pink baby Converse or blue baby Converse to find out what we were having.  We had our deciding doctors appointment the Wed before and turned our heads at certain parts of the ultrasound to avoid seeing anything telling.  Then we had our doctor email our good friend Patti so she could wrap up the appropriate pair.

It was a very exciting and special moment!  I especially love the picture of Chase's fist pump...doesn't get much better than that.

For the rest of the party we enjoyed chatting and visiting with our friends and family and sneaking off to a corner with each other to say, "Can you believe it?  We are having a baby girl."

We are thrilled and unbelievably happy.  We can't wait to meet our lil girl, Molly Jean Vincent!

Big Purchase

Last week Chase and I made our first big baby purchase.  I had been itching to buy something that declared "we are having a baby!"  But of course, I wasn't just going to buy something irrational.

I patiently did my research, read reviews, shopped online, weighed pros and cons and then BOUGHT!

Our first baby purchase...a stroller!

The Peg-Perego Pliko Switch in Kiwi.  I really like the green because its gender neutral so we can use it on the next kiddo as well.  We first heard of this brand when Chase spotted it on the sitcom Modern Family.  Mitchell and Cameron were sporting this with Lily in an orange color.  We liked the overall look of it (and we knew Mitchell and Cameron would only have the best) so we Google'd it.  Don't worry, we didn't base our entire decision on hollywood prop selection.  We did our own research as well.

Some features we like:
  • Folds up easily and gets very compact
  • Very good turn radius
  • Can face the baby towards you or out towards the world
  • Adjustable handle length (fits Chase and myself)
  • Good user reviews (durable, comfortable etc.)
  • Good safety ratings
  • Gender neutral color
The only con I found was the Italian sized cup holder that doesn't hold an American 20oz.  Oh well.

And the very best part...we got a great deal on it at a store closing.  Over $100 off!  So our first baby purchase was a budget conscious one as well.

Doesn't he look like a natural?  We have been doing a little practicing.  And yes, that is our teddy bear we strapped inside.  Don't judge us.

Stoller...check.

mid century love

My favorite thing in the world is mid century furniture.  Its so beautiful and simple and perfect.  Slowly but surely I am replacing most notable pieces of furniture with mid century inspired or actual mid century pieces.

One of the best parts about finding original mid century furniture is the craftsmanship.  They just don't make furniture like they used to.  Everything is real wood, hand carved details, dovetail drawers etc.  Pieces of furniture constructed in the mid 50's are in better shape than something I bought 5 years ago.

So where better to use mid century furniture?  The nursery of course.  The latest project on our list of to-do's and the only one that has a definite timeline.  I scoured Craigslist and antique stores looking for the perfect dresser and lucky me, I found one a couple weeks ago.  And it was only $240.

I am in love with it.  Plus it has 9 drawers of storage...perfect.

More mid century to come I am sure.

big news from the Vincent household

No...we are not pregnant!  Geez, guys!

Oh wait...YES WE ARE!  Our first offspring is set to arrive this November. Baby V we are affectionately referring to it (until we find out if its a boy or girl).

We were surprised and delighted to find out that we are having a little one back in February.

That is our little bean about 3 months ago.  How cute!

The past 3 months have been a whirlwind as time continues to fly by.  We are embarking on this new journey with excitement, eagerness and a little bit of nervousness and Oh Shit! mixed in.

While I am not going to make this blog all about baby, I will share some milestones as we go through this process.

Baby Stats:
17 weeks along
Baby is about 5 inches (the size of an onion)
Weighs about 6 ounces

So there it is...big news from the Vincents.

friday five: garage sale

fridayfive

This is a special friday five because we are having a garage sale!  So exciting right...well it is for me.  It means I get to rid myself of the unwanted and pass it on to someone else who will enjoy it.

So, all garage sale inspired, this weeks friday five:

1. Garage sale prep- spending most of the day today, friday, cleaning out the remaining things for the sale, pricing things and getting everything set up (my Mom and Dad are coming from OKC to help)
2. Garage sale sale- We opted to do a Saturday only sale, so from 9am to 4pm on Sat we will be selling, selling, selling
3. Garage sale recovery- a nice dinner with the hubby and parents to wind down (and hopefully count our tons and tons of money!)
4. More Garage sale recovery- Pedicures.  What better way to relax and recover from a garage sale.  Mom and I will be enjoying this treat on Sunday.
5. Garage sale leftovers- packing up the remaining items that didn't sale to be donated to Salvation Army

Sounds like a successful (and profit making) weekend!

Happy weekend to all.
