My latest obsession

As of late I am completely and utterly obsessed with the book The Time Travelers Wife. Ask anybody I have come into contact with in the last month and they will tell you.

I borrowed the book from a friend and fell in love with it. Since finishing the book I have gone back and re-read more than half of it just finding my favorite parts.

I also found out they are making a movie. Of course I was ecstatic. My love for romantic drama is hard to tame so this was perfect. Check out the official trailer. (Warning: if you have not read the book this will give away a few things.)

It's just one of those things that stuck with me and I can't seem to shake it. The movie comes out August 14th, and I am sure by then I will have read the book a couple more times.

Sunday Night Cruise

Sunday night, after an exhausting weekend of moving and birthday activities, Chase and I cruised downtown on our bikes to check out the Arts Council's Sunday Twilit concert series.

IMG00223

We stopped off on our way to grab Subway sandwiches and beer. Then we hit the streets on our bikes and made our way through downtown to the Myriad Gardens.

IMG00221

The concert was Stephen Speaks. It was extra special because Chase and I first started listening to him when we started dating. One of our favorite songs is Passenger Seat which he kicked the concert off with.

IMG00222

It was a great way to relax and unwind from the crazy weekend. There are so many fun and free things to do in OKC. You just have to find them.

My little brother is 21

On Wednesday, my baby brother Alex turned 21. Wow, how time flies. Just yesterday I was forcing him to pose for glamor shot style photos when he was 4.

To celebrate we went to the Thirsty Thursday RedHawks game.

IMG_1747

Alex bought his first beers for only a dollar!!

IMG_1750

After the game we headed to an oldie but a goodie for his first bar experience, Cock' O the Walk.

IMG_1752

I bought him his first shot, "Pittbull on Crack." He took it like a champ!

Happy Birthday Alex!

Moving on out

What does every 24 year old gal want to do? Well move back in with her parents of course!

Big changes are happening in the Pseudo Single household. I am leaving my beloved duplex near the beautiful park to move back in with my parents.

Why you ask? Well, Chase and I will be embarking on a journey to Dallas come December and we are going to buy a house. (gotta get that $8K tax credit!) So, in order to do the financially responsible thing and save some serious cash for a down payment, I am moving out of my rental and in with my parents. (who are kind enough to not charge me any rent.)

So the lack of posts lately can be directly attributed to all the stresses of moving. Cleaning out the house, donating things, packing things up, turning off all your bills, changing your address, getting a storage unit for all your stuff and on and on and on.

And my cute little place is now a holding place for boxes heaped upon other boxes.

I am sure going to miss my life in that duplex but good things are coming. And, my friend Jenn is moving into my place so I will still be able to hang out there!

I got a package from FedEx today with all my home loan pre-approval documents to sign. It was very exciting.

Next step....find the perfect house! No small task.

If you're ever in a bind...

and need a good drug lawyer.

IMG_1695

This van cruises around the area I live in and parks at local events and popular hangouts. It is actually a great tactic and definitely gets attention. Especially in my neighborhood, where its full of hippies that might need his services.

Why Work? Play Golf

Instead of getting back to the work grind this past Monday like everyone else, I got to hit the links at Gallardia Golf and Country Club.

Monday was the Oklahoma City Ad Club's 35th annual golf tournament. I got to play golf with Roy (my boss) and a couple of our best clients.

That's my boss Roy, standing next to the hole Third Degree sponsored.

It was a perfect day for golf, no wind. The course was beautiful and our golf shots were on point. We ended up taking 2nd place with a score of 61 (11 under). I also snatched the Women's Longest Drive title, I smoked em.

It's always nice to get out of the office on a Monday.

Nothing like an ice cold Pop's

This Saturday was another one of my Mom and Daughter shopping days with my mom Shari. This time we hit up several stores in Edmond and then we were going to get lunch at one of our favorite places, McAlister's. Then I had a great idea, let's drive out to Pop's!

IMG00208

Pop's is a new Oklahoma landmark located on Historic Route 66 in Arcadia. It's futuristic design and 66 foot tall soda bottle are just a couple of the things that make it unique. It's an actual gas station and soda fountain/restaurant with over 500 different kinds of soda.

IMG00214

The place opened up a few years back but Mom and I had never been so we made this our Saturday lunch destination. Nothing better than a strawberry soda alongside a burger and fries.

IMG00213

After lunch we both grabbed a 6 pack holder and picked up several varieties of soda pop to take home. I also grabbed a 6 pack of Pop's select lager beer.

IMG00210

It was the perfect Saturday adventure. If you haven't made it out to Pop's yet I suggest you make the short trip. It's well worth it.

CraigsList Search

For the past year I have been searching for the perfect mid-century modern chair to replace the old blue chair I inherited from my parents.

About every other day I jump on Craigslist to roam through the thousands of furniture posts in search of this hidden gem. It has yet to be discovered. (but I have found some pretty nasty ugly things along the way)

Some of you may have read my post on Liz's Chair party. Liz found all these beautiful chairs on CraigsList within the past year. I think she got them all.

Any other ideas on where to find an original chair for my living room?

Circle of Life

One of the best Christmas presents Chase and I got this past year were tickets to see the Broadway musical Lion King here in Oklahoma. Chase's mom got us the tickets and they were great seats.

LionKing

Of all the plays/musicals I have seen (not a ton) this was by far the best. The whole thing was absolutely magical. It was also fun because I grew up watching the Lion King movie and I could still sing along to the songs.

IMG_1699
All dressed up for the show

The most amazing thing about the show was not the storyline or the music but the costumes. It was incredible to see how the costumes and scenery really brought the animals and the jungle setting to life. I have never seen anything like it.

LionKing3
Circle of Life

The most impressive costume to me was the cheetah. To see how realistic the movements of the animal were was so neat. The actor's head was strapped to the cheetah's head in a way that made the movements of the head mimic exactly the actor's movements. My jaw just dropped.

Cheetah and Giraffes

Our seats were also perfect because they were on the aisle. Several times during the show animals are coming up and down the aisles. The life-size elephant came right by us.

I even teared up and got goosebumps when all the animals were gathered on stage in the beginning singing Circle of Life.

If this show is ever in your area I would highly recommend seeing it!

Chair Party

My friend Liz has a talent unlike any I have ever seen before. She has an uncanny ability to find the best of the best in mid-century style furniture, more specifically chairs.

Lizchairs

So, naturally when Liz bought a new house we had to center her celebration party around the large quantity of chairs that needed to be moved to the new place.

IMG00191

Liz even created a Facebook event for this spectacular occasion. Here is a blurb from the event description:
Everyone pretends for one night that my crippling mid-century chair addiction is nothing more than a harmless personality quirk. You know, like my drinking. Anyway... since there is not any furniture in the new house yet, we are going to somehow transport seating for everyone from the old duplex.

The chair party started by loading a bunch of her chairs into the back of Dan's truck to transport to the new place. The transportation of the chairs also included a little bit of "ghostriding the whip" to add to the celebration.

IMG00199

Once at Liz's new place she ushered us in for the grand tour. And of course, to unload all of her chairs.

IMG00200

Congrats on your first home Liz! You are a homeowner!
