Get Your Hunt On!

Last year when Easter rolled around Molly was only 4 1/2 months old. She was all smiles and sported a super cute bunny onesie with a mini tutu. Adorable. We got all dressed up, went to church and then to brunch. She sat up was propped up next to her Easter basket and wore some super cute bunny ears. A great first Easter.



This year we had a running, jumping, full of energy toddler for Easter (an early Easter, I am out of town on actual Easter). So that could only mean one thing, an Easter Egg Hunt!

The Dallas Arborteum, one of our favorite spots, was hosting an Easter breakfast and Egg Hunt for members. And they had one scheduled the weekend prior to actual Easter (when I wouldn't be out of town). The stars were aligning.

We got up extra early, it started at 7:45am, got all fancied up in a cute dress and practiced our hunting and gathering strategies at home before we headed out. I could already tell she was a natural.

We fueled up with breakfast and did a few crafts to get in the spirit.





Then it was time. They called us all to the lawn on the Arboretum and we watched as all the bigger kids got ready to attack. I whispered to Molly, "You go get em girl!" And then they were off!

She was a little distracted at first by all of the people but once she got the hang of it there was no stopping her. She would spot an egg she wanted and take off!

It ended up being a dreary day with a very cold wind so we stopped to investigate her loot and then take a few family pics before heading out.





She absolutely loved it and her Dad might even take her to another hunt this weekend. She told me she was dying to go again.

Quick DIY Playroom Art

With the start of the new year I have been on a bit of a DIY kick. There are lots of things on our list and we are slowly crossing them off. I also seem to have added a few as well, darn it Pinterest!

I shared our table makeover for Molly, which she continues to absolutely LOVE. But we also did another small project to add a little more fun to Molly's playroom.

I found my inspiration on Pinterest (I have no original ideas. ha!) and then got to work.

I decided I wanted to spell out the word PLAY to put above her toy area and really add a fun way to dictate what this space is for.

The Process-

Step 1: Purchase canvas. In my case I wanted 12 x 12 square canvas. You can find them at your local hobby store or order them online at Amazon. I bought a 4-pack at Michaels.

Step 2: Create print outs for your letters so you can trace them onto your canvas. I used PrinterProjects.com

Step 3: Print out your chosen letters, cut them out and trace them onto your canvas.

Step 4: Pick out your paint colors. I used paints I already had on hand from a previous project. The best paint is basic acrylic paint you can find at Hobby Lobby, Wal-Mart etc.

Step 5: Paint away! Make sure to stay inside the lines. : )

The entire process took me (and my Mom) about 10 minutes. Easy and turned out so cute!

Total cost for this project was around $10. I had most of the supplies and I used a 40% off coupon at Michaels for the canvas.

Not too shabby.

What She Wears: Molly's Style

I like to think Molly has style. So much so that it deserves its own post. Its also fun to see where other Moms get their kids digs and what things are their favorite. 

Molly's wardrobe is cute, simple and affordable using lots of staples like leggings and simple t-shirts and then layering. She also refuses to wear any type of bow or headband on her head so I like to put her in pink a lot and pick items that have little flowers on them etc. to girl it up a bit.

Our favorite store as of late is Old Navy. They have super cute clothes that are affordable and they almost always have a sale. I also love how Old Navy splits their sizes. Molly is currently a toddler in their 12-24 mo section. Plus their clothes fit her perfectly.

Because Molly is so small (rocking the 5th percentile yall!) I try and avoid baggy pants and jeans so she wears a lot of leggings. Side note: I tried to put her in real jeans one time and she freaked about the texture. ha!

Last but not least is her shoes. Most days Molly wears her trusty pair of Stride Rites. While pricey I have realized that they are worth it. We have tried countless pairs of cheaper shoes but they either don't fit right or she won't wear them. Stride Rite is great because they have shoes for specific walkers. While Molly is definitely a "runner" we still put her in the early walker shoes because the sole is softer. We have read that until a child is 2 they should be barefoot as much as possible and then wear shoes that let them "feel" the ground. These shoes are perfect, they are hard enough to take the wear and tear of the playground but they are still very flexible so she can really feel the ground.
