Summer is here

The past few days have been sunny and HOT. The Oklahoma summer heat has made its way here. This means fun summer activities like wearing flip flops at all times, playing frisbee in the park, hanging out at the lake, mountain bike riding, ice cold lemonade, running through the sprinkler, gardening and of course PORCH PARTIES!

Porch parties is a fun way to hang out with friends, enjoy the beautiful summer air and beat the heat with good conversation and ice cold drinks.

My porch has become my sanctuary. I love spending time there. Whether it be coffee and the paper in the early morning or late night fun with friends.

What is your favorite summertime activity?

Ada Oklahoma

Liz and I embarked on a work related adventure today to Ada Oklahoma. The trip was for one of our clients, Tinker Federal Credit Union.

We made 2 stops in Ada.

First, the TFCU branch. Yes, it is a trailer. BUT...they are in the process of building a brand new branch opening in the fall.

Check out Liz...she is waving at you.

The second stop was an old stomping grounds I remember from summers I spent in Ada. (my family actually grew up there, and I used to go stay with my aunt and uncle in the summers.) Its a tiny little burger shop called Folgers.

IMG00186

Because the place only holds about a dozen people, we got our burgers to go. But we were there long enough to watch our burgers get made and absorb the greasy diner smell into our clothes.

IMG00187

But the burgers were worth the wait. Just ask Liz, she made plenty of yum noises while eating hers.

So...don't count Ada out. It is a neat little town. And you must stop in for a burger at Folgers.

Guilty Pleasure Movies

I have always been a fan of ridiculous romance chick flick movies. My friends have given me a hard time about it forever. They keep going back to one movie that I LOVE. Wait for it...The Lakehouse! Starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock.

Yes, yes I know it doesn't make any logical sense. How can they transfer back in time. How does the letter get to the mailbox. Who cares! Not caring about the insanely cheesy plot line is the best part. You just have to enjoy it. Plus, the house in the movie is beautiful!

Some times, as a pseudo single gal you just want to curl up on the couch, in your most comfortable pajamas and watch a super disgusting romance movie. It just hits the spot.

So, tonight I rented New In Town with Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick Jr. It should be exactly what I am looking for.

What movies are you ashamed to admit you love to watch?

Been on hiatus

So now that I have been officially removed from a friend's blog roll because my lacking of posting I am back in the game.

Over the last couple of weeks life got kind of crazy and blogging was not at the top of my priority list. For those of you that read, I apologize.

What you have missed in a nutshell:

A trip to Dallas

A surprise life curve ball

A holiday weekend

A lot of bug bites

A serious sunburn

A crazy few days at work

Lots of time spent thinking, deliberating, making tough choices and planning out the future.

So as you can see, some other things came up.

BUT...this is to serve as my promise to the blogging world of much more frequent posts in the future.

Stay tuned!

The Plaza District

Oklahoma City is surprisingly cooler than most people might think, especially as of late. Several areas in the city are slowly being revitalized and revamped. One of those areas is The Plaza District.

The Plaza District was formed in the 1920s as a thriving commerce area due to its location at the end of the Trolley line. Over the years as the needs in that area and the demographics changed the area began to decline dramatically. Within the last year the project to revitalize this area and bring back some of its historical roots began and was spearheaded with the opening of The Lyric Theatre.

This past weekend my mom and I went to check out the new area. We came across some very cool shops and checked out the amazing Lyric Theatre. The area looks great compared to what it was but it still needs a little bit of work.

It is amazing to see how much this city has changed in my lifetime and there is so much more to come!

Murder Mystery style

Saturday night my friend Kathleen had a birthday party murder mystery style. It was quite the evening. We all had characters to transform into for the night and work to decipher the murder that took place in Kathleens dining room.

I was Flora Nemetz-Gadora.

Ex-wife of Mob Boss Nick Nemetz, adulteress girlfriend of the last Louie Marie and all out extravagant gold digger with eyes for the new mob man Southside Sal.

While I didn't solve the murder, or have the most money at the end of the night, I did have a fantastic time. Best Birthday Party EVER!!
