Hallie Pollock

Some of you might remember a post on a little art project I did in August to try and re-create a painting I liked.  Well this weekend I tackled another painting project.  A Jackson Pollock style abstract painting.  While I am no artist, I do find myself thinking, "I can do that" when looking at abstract work.  Especially when I see the price tag on original art.  So my solution that fits my current budget is to create my own.

Ta-Dah!

A little Hallie Pollock.  I love it!  I have no idea where its going to go in the house but I absolutely love it.  And, the best part....it cost me under $20 bucks.  Deal!

Anybody else out there with diy art?

Parental Guidance

Parental Guidance #2

Laundry.  Yep, laundry.  No, don't worry my Mom is not "doing" my laundry for me.  I am 25, come on.  But, you know when you start a load of laundry and then competely forget about it.  Well, when you live by yourself and you are the only one doing laundry is just sits there, nothing.  Ere, when you live at home and there is a house full of people doing laundry the line of loads has to move to make room for the next.  So, the perk here is that sometimes, and only sometimes, I forget to flip my load from the washer to the dryer or in a few cases I forget to turn the dryer back on to complete the process.  And in those special instances, my laundry magically gets flipped, or in the very rare occasion it gets dried completely and set out.  Pretty awesome benefit of living at home if you ask me.

New Chair

My friend Liz's Craigslist powers took over yesterday and she linked me to a cool danish mid century chair.  As you might remember from a previous post Liz has an uncanny ability to find great chairs for cheap on Craigslist.  I was pumped.  I immediately called and set up a time to go pick up the chair.

For $25 bucks it was a steal.  I think I am going to recover it in a fabric instead of a leather and put it in the office of our new house.

Couch

When I moved out of my duplex and in with my parents I decided to go ahead and sell a lot of my furniture that I did not want anymore.  One of those items was my couch.  It was a cheap couch I got in college so I could just have a place to sit.  It wasn't completely ugly, but it wasn't stylish at all either.

So, I am now in search of a couch.  I want something that has clean lines, is comfortable, preferably 3 cushions and is under $1,000.  I know this is sort of a tall order but I know it can be done.

Check out this couch from IO Metro.

Not sure if its completely hitting the spot or not.

Parental Guidance

Over the next couple weeks I am going to be adding some things and restructuring the posting on my blog a little bit.  One of the main things I will be doing are weekly posts on a certain topic.  My first one, Parental Guidance.

Since I am currently living at with my parents and people find that both fascinating and hilarious I thought I would share tidbits and perks of living at home when you are 25 years old.

Parental Guidance #1:

Major perk of living at home is food!  I spent around $200 a month on groceries and mostly ate frozen dinners and sandwiches for my main meals.  Now that I live at home, my grocery spending is around $50 (I kick in a little bit) and I eat real dinners.  Plus, I usually don't even cook it.  It just appears at around 7pm every night.  A definite bonus of living at home!

Extras...there are fancy snacks in the pantry I would never allow myself to splurge on.

Friday Happy Hour

For some reason this past week has felt like it would just never end. Yesterday afternoon at work every minute felt like an hour. SO....when 5:30 (er 5:15) came around we decided to detox from the work week with a little happy hour outside.

Of the many happy hours choices in Bricktown and the surrounding areas we decided to check out the patio and mojitos at Sage Market and Cafe in Deep Deuce.

And, our boss Roy decided to join us. It was a nice addition to our usual happy hour group. Good drinks, good weather, good conversation. The perfect way to unwind after a grueling work week.
